Amy Jo Johnson New England native, Amy Jo Johnson starred as Kimberly Hart (the first Pink Power Ranger) on Mighty Morphin Power Rangers from 1993–1995. And in 2024 Amy Jo hit the bookshelves with the “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Return” – comic book series from Boom! Studios. Written by herself and rising co-writer Matt Hotson (Titans) and artist Nico Leon (Spider-Man), fans can experience something unlike anything they ever have before in the Power Rangers universe!
Prior to being an actress, Amy Jo participated in gymnastics, and after years of training and competition, she reached the highest-ranking class, Class One. After she was severely injured, she had to abandon her dreams of going to the Olympics.
Amy Jo soon went on to a career in acting and her breakthrough role came less than a month after she moved to Los Angeles, when she was selected to portray Kimberly Hart, the Pink Ranger, in “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers”, the first US installment of the Power Rangers franchise.
In 1998, she would co-star in “Felicity”. She portrayed Julie, a singer/guitarist. She would stay on the show for two and a half years.
Amy Jo would continue to gain roles in independent films and television projects, and in 2008 she landed the featured role of Jules Callaghan in “Flashpoint: (2008–2012). Since then, Amy Jo is known for being one of the few, rare Ranger actors who still has a career in acting and singing/songwriting.
In 2020, as writer and director, she broke onto the world stage with her film “Tammy’s Always Dying”, starring Oscar-nominated Felicity Huffman, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival.
As a musician Amy Jo has three albums under her belt. Her latest musical project, “Still Here”, is an EP about perseverance, and resiliency.
Dual citizen Johnson resides in Toronto, Canada, with her daughter.
